X-Type Syringes from CTC Analytics
MicroLiter continues to support all aspects of the CTC Analytics PAL®
Sample Handler. We are pleased to assist all customers with trouble-
shooting consumable issues and we encourage you to call us regarding
any inquiry you may have. While we believe that there are some
excellent alternatives to the CTC endorsed syringes, we have moved
away from offering all product lines for syringes available for the PAL®
and will focus our efforts on only the Hamilton products developed by
CTC Analytics.
MicroLiter has long been a partner for consumables in the USA with
LEAP Technologies and will continue to seek opportunities to grow with
this dynamic innovator for sample handling solutions.
Our move to reduce our syringe offerings in no way reflects an overall
change in our relationship with LEAP or how together we assist our
mutual customers in finding solutions for their particular requirements.

LC Samplers
For LC work, a needle gauge of 22 with a blunt tip (point style 3) is
required to match the valve inlet. 22s gauge needle specifications are
recommended to reduce coring of septa when possible.
GC Samplers
For GC work we recommend a small diameter, low dead-volume needle
(26s = 26 gauge with a low dead volume). The result will be: easy
purging of air, high reproducibility and low cleaning solvent use.
Needle point styles must be considered when piercing a GC septum.
One-side PTFE and one-side Rubber or Silicone septa commonly used
for GC applications require a beveled conical point style AS or side-hole
needle (point style 5) to prevent coring.
Gastight plungers are only essential for very sticky samples and / or
highly volatile solvents like hexane. They are also needed at syringe
volumes above 25µl.
Merlin MicroSeal™
requires a 23 gauge needle with point style AS so
that a proper seal is achieved during injection in the GC inlet.
